We just finished a very nice evening getting to know our newest neighbors by having dinner at a local restaurant. Now, one of the best ways in any walk of life or profession to bond with people is to identify and share common experiences. One small, relatively new four letter word popped up during our dinner this evening and immediately electrified everyone at the table. That word? The KMCC! And one of the topics about the KMCC was parking.
I'm certain that parking at the KMCC is a topic of conversation for just about everyone who's ever driven there. It isn't the lack of parking that's the problem, it's the narrowness of the parking stalls (German/Euro spec?), the red brick/white brick parking space markers that people can barely see on overcast days, and NO ONE CAN SEE DURING RAIN OR SNOW AND ARE NOW GETTING TICKETED FOR, and the narrowness of the lanes of traffic themselves coupled with perpendicular rather than slanted parking stalls. In short, it's a nightmare.
Furthermore, there were more "special" parking spots at the previous, smaller BX's, which had fewer patrons at each respective store by the way since the BX's were split between two distinct bases.
By special I'm referring to handicapped and expectant mothers, not officers (though they can be special too). Why aren't the front stalls at the beginning of EVERY ROW dedicated to an expectant mother? That would only add up to about 32 stalls (I'm being generous...). Do you know how many pregnant women are walking around this place at any given point in time????
And notwithstanding (or used...) is the parking around the rear of the complex. You know, that place you've driven through, saw the open stalls, gotten excited but then realized "Wait a minute, if I park here, I have to walk ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BUILDING BECAUSE NO ONE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO PUT AN ENTRANCE ON THIS SIDE OF THE BUILDING!". That's supposed to be the employee parking area from what I understand, but face it, if you were an employee, would you park there? No. You'd park out front like the rest of us! Why? Because there ISN'T AN ENTRANCE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BUILDING!
Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. In closing on this topic (at least for me), I would like to thank the non-communicative teams of designers and builders who brought us and our newest neighbors together in a quiet, peaceful restaurant far, far away from the KMCC :)
